INDEPENDENCE STATEMENT
Matthew’s Table is a wholly independent website, unconnected to any newspaper, shop or catering organisation, offering genuinely independent restaurant news and reviews and information about good food and where to buy it.
• No restaurant, cafe, gastropub or food shop reviewed on this site has paid to be included in the listings.
• All restaurant reviews are carried out anonymously (where possible – some restaurateurs know Matthew Lewin by sight).
• Every meal and/or puchase is paid for in full. Matthew NEVER accepts free or discounted meals for review purposes.
• Some sponsorship and advertising on the website is accepted, but both advertisers and sponsors are explicitly advised that buying space on the website does not buy them any editorial influence or favour.
• Advertisements are only accepted from restaurants and shops personally visited by Matthew Lewin, and ads from restaurants awarded fewer than three stars on the website are NOT accepted.
• Restaurants, pubs and food shops are chosen for inclusion by Matthew Lewin personally, with priority being given to new establishments, those which have changed ownership, and unusual restaurants. Some important restaurants are visited more than once to keep reviews up to date.
• Members and visitors are encouraged to comment (succinctly) on restaurant reviews and/or recommend restaurants and food retailers for inclusion. This can be done at the bottom of each review, through the "Contact Matthew" page of this website, or by emailing matthew@matthews-table.com Members' comments will be added to the review at Matthew's discretion.
• When reading the reviews, members should always bear in mind the date of the review (clearly stated on the web page) since some dishes and prices are likely to have changed since the review was written. Entries are updated whenever possible.
• Your name, address and email address will NOT under any circumstances be made available to any other company or organisation.
